A. Marie (Rater) Brown, 98, of Plantation, FL, formerly of Lafayette, passed away at Westside Regional Medical Center in Plantation, FL on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Born November 12, 1915 in Warren County, IN, she was the daughter of the late John and Addie (Vaughn) Rater. She was raised in Warren County and graduated from Pine Village High School. She resided in Boswell, IN from 1936 to 1939.
Marie married Dale W. Brown on May 27, 1936 in Williamsport, IN and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1984. She was a cook for Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Purdue University for 10 years. Marie was a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church, the WSCS Women's Club of the church and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star #374.
Surviving is her daughter, Linda L. Brown of Plantation, FL. She was preceded in death by a brother Isaac Rater and a sister Helen Amstutz.
Visitation from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11:00 a.m. service Friday in Hippensteel Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating. Burial to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
