Betty J. (Gastineau) Weaver, 81, of Lafayette, passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 05, 2014 at Creasy Springs Health Campus. Born November 14, 1932 in Science Hill, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John Roscoe and Vera (Leigh) Gastineau. She was a graduate of Francesville High School. Betty worked as a sales person and training supervisor at the former L.S. Ayres and then for Dr. Bayley, D.D.S where she retired.
Her marriage was to John M. Weaver on September 26, 1953 in Francesville and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2002. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church where she sang in the choir for several years. She was also a member of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Orphan Brigade. She volunteered at the Tippecanoe County Historical Society and enjoyed genealogy.
Surviving are her two sons, John Weaver, Jr. (wife, Debbie) of Louisville, KY and Tim Weaver (wife, Mandy) of Lafayette, her daughter, Charlene Gross (husband, John) of Lafayette; two brothers Clarence Gastineau (wife, Dixie) and Don Gastineau (wife, Vicky) both of Lafayette; five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Alma Long and a brother Jerrel Gastineau.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, with Rosary at 4:45 p.m., at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Reverend Father Daniel Gartland officiating and Reverend Father Jeff Martin concelebrating. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Alzheimers Association, or the donor's favorite charity.
