Donna Kay (Machler) Sherwood, 75, of West Lafayette passed away at 11: 30 P.M. on Monday, December 9, 2013 after a lengthy battle with Lou Gehrigs Disease (ALS). Born June 4, 1938 in Evanston, IL. She was the daughter of the late Donald and Jesse "Jay" (Hanrahan) Machler. She was a graduate of Wanatah High School and the Chicago Secretarial School.
Donna married Wallace Charles Sherwood on September 6, 1958 in Wanatah and he survives. She was ahomemaker and had previously worked as a lead secretary at Duncan Electric and Elienor Cox Diamonds. She was a member of The Church of the Blessed Sacrament of West Lafayette and of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello. She was a member of The Red Hat Society of Monticello.
She enjoyed traveling to Spain and China and cruising the Carribean and Alaska. She and her husband loved spending the last few winters in Arizona. Donna had many creative talents. She loved quilting, knitting alpaca yarn, stained glass work, making jewelry and especially making pottery, which she enjoyed giving to others. She was generous, patient, kind and gave of her home for others to enjoy.
Surviving with her husband are her children, Steve Sherwood and Michael Sherwood (wife, Victoria) of Lafayette, Renee Tripp (husband, Steve) of Valparaiso, Brian Sherwood (wife, Tracy) of West Lafayette and Marc Sherwood of Lafayette; her brother David Machler )wife, Angela) of Wellington, FL and sister Jesse Harrington (husband, Daniel)of Naples FL; and six grandchildren.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Church of the Blessed Sacrament, with Father David Buckles officiating. Visitation will follow the Mass.
