Everette M. Venable, 88, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully in his home at 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He will be sadly missed by his family and all that knew him. Born June 10, 1925 in Tazewell, TN, he was the son of the late Tom and Lucy (Epperson) Venable. Everette came to the Greater Lafayette at the age of six and went on to honorably serve in the United States Army for four years during WW II in the European Theatre. His marriage was on February 1, 1947 in West Lafayette to Thelma R. Dowell and she survives. Following his discharge from the service, Everette worked at the former Brown Rubber Plant in Lafayette and then for a brief time at Ross Gear Division of TRW. Then for over twenty years, he worked at the former Verplank Concrete and then V-Block Concrete as a driver, retiring in 1985. Everette was a member of Weaver Chapel United Methodist Church and he enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens and he also enjoyed woodworking. But more importantly, he valued the time he spent with his family and friends.
