Janet Ann (Nichols) Wolf, 79, of West Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Born September 3, 1934 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Millard Samuel and Mary (Titus) Nichols. She was a 1951 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.
Janet married Alva Dale Wolf on August 8, 1953 in Lafayette and he preceded her in death on January 4, 2013. She retired from Landis & Gyr after 17 years, drove a bus for Tippecanoe County School Corporation, and most recently she had worked at Wal Mart in sewing and craft supplies. She was a member of First Christian Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 60 years and received the highest degree of The Torch, and was a Girl Scout leader. Janet enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She made blankets and hats for Riley Hospital, majorette uniforms for Purdue University, Harrison and Klondike High Schools and wedding dresses for family and friends.
Surviving are her four daughters, Lucinda Mari "Cindi" Rider (husband, Lee) of West Lafayette, Melinda Lee Gardner (husband, James) of Fowler, Krista Lynn Howard (husband, David) of West Lafayette, and Ann Rochelle Stewart (husband, George) of Hinesville, GA. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren: Ryland and Delaney Gardner, Andrew Howard (Megan), Callie McCoy (Jared), Rochelle Bailey (Nathan), Isiah, Dominique, Marcus, Jasmine, Deion, Samantha, and Janae Stewart and 4 great-grandchildren: Kaden and Callista Bailey, Camden Howard, and Dominique Stewart. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rozella M. Meyers.
In her final journey she has chosen to donate her body to the IU Anatomical Education Program.
Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Beta Sigma Phi Sorority ritual will take place at 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service.
