Robert A. "Bob" Spurling, 77, of Lafayette, passed away at home at 12:20 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014. Born March 22, 1936 in Durlodge, TN, he was the son of the late Barney Jackson Spurling and the late Perulda (Cook) Spurling. Bob married Virgia Doyle on December 27, 1966 in Lafayette and she survives. He worked in the laundry department at Home Hospital for 10 years before retiring. Bob enjoyed fishing.
Surviving with his wife, Virgia, are his step-children, Bill Collins (companion, Susie) of Tennessee, Tom Collins (wife, Julie) and Linda Fulks (husband, Fred) both of Lafayette; a sister, Margie Hubner of Clinton Township, MI; 11 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step-son Glen Collins, a step-grandson, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Visitation from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday at Hippensteel Funeral Home with Pastor Sue Brust officiating. Burial to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Hippensteel Funeral Home is entrusted with care. Share memories and condolences online at
