Robert A. "Bob" Waugh, 81, of Lafayette, formerly of the Buck Creek area, passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Creasy Springs. Born June 27, 1932 in Millpoint, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Fred and Glenna (Auldridge) Waugh. Robert honorably served with the U.S. Army from January 1953 to December 1954.
His marriage was to Ruth Johnston on June 20, 1956 in West Lafayette and she survives. He was a letter carrier for the United States Post Office for 30 years. After retiring he sold postal uniforms for 19 years. Bob was a member of Buck Creek United Methodist, NALC Union (National Association of Letter Carriers) and the American Legion. He was active in coaching his sons' baseball teams years ago. He enjoyed gardening and playing dart ball.
Surviving with his wife are his three sons, Albert Waugh of Jacksonville, FL, Gary Waugh (wife, Anita) of Dunkirk, IN, and Robert E. "Bobby" Waugh (wife, Chris) of Frankfort, IN; two sisters, Ruth Cornelius of Marlinton, WV and Gladys Dean of Richwood, WV; and 6 grandchildren, Eric Rogers, and Raymond, Robert, Sam, Olivia, and Emily Waugh. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Waugh.
Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service. 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dwight Monical. Burial to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Buck Creek United Methodist Church. Hippensteel Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
