William J. "Will" Burroughs, 43, a life long resident of Battle Ground, passed away at 9:16 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born February 8, 1970 in Lafayette, he was the beloved son of Dorothy (Banta) Burroughs of Battle Ground and the late Clayton W. "Tate" Burroughs, III. He was a 1988 graduate of Harrison High School.
Will worked construction for various contractors in the Lafayette area, building various large buildings in North Central Indiana. He was a member of International Laborers Union #274 for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating on the Tippecanoe River.
Surviving with his mother are his two brothers, Gregory (Carol) Claxton of Lafayette and David (Cyndi) Burroughs of Brookston; his two sisters, Joanna (Mark) Claxton Fanning of Hermosa, SD and Sue Mack of Memphis, TN; 10 nieces and nephews, Brett Claxton, Heather Fischer, Andrew Claxton, Matt Claxton, Tina Orns, Paul Fanning, Kevin Fanning, Ron Weinberg, Jarrett Burroughs and Emmy Burroughs; six great nieces and nephews; and his special companion, his yellow lab, "Shellie".
Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Will's uncle Bill J. Cercle officiating. Burial to follow at Pretty Prairie Cemetery in Battle Ground. Memorial contributions may be made to the Almost Home Humane Society. Hippensteel Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
