Philip M. Mullen was born September 25, 1945 in Lafayette, IN and died at 6:02 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 in his residence. His parents were the late Silas and Edith (Martin) Mullen. He was a 1963 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and he served honorably in the U.S. Army. Philip married Sue Kunkel on December 31, 1966 in Linden, IN and she survives.
Philip was self employed as a handy man, carpenter, and owner of Mobile Scrap Tire. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family. In addition, Philip was a "jack of all trades" and enjoyed wood working. He was active at Elmwood Church of Christ and a former trustee of Hanging Rock Christian Assembly in West Lebanon.
He is survived by his wife and four children: Anita York (Tim) of Linden, TN, Andrea Yeoman (Daniel) of West Lafayette, and Christopher Mullen and Paul Mullen of Lafayette. Philip has eleven grandchildren: Faith, Justus, Charity, Ashley, Alyssa, Caleb, Brett, Jordan, Jacob, Marisa, and Aerielle. He is also survived by siblings: John Mullen (Polly) of Lafayette, Joe Mullen (Sarah) of Carmel, IN, Nonah Johnson (Elmer) of Peel, AR and Lois Bailey (Bill) of Chesterton, IN. Preceding Philip in death are his parents, and siblings: Paul Mullen, Marilouise Stanley, Wahneta Mullen, James Mullen, Samuel Mullen, and Esther Baker.
Visitation is Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Hippensteel Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Gilbert Kerrigan officiating. Burial to follow at Bowers Station Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hanging Rock Christian Assembly. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
