Robert F. Moore, 94, of Lafayette died at 8:52 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Clarian Arnett Hospital. Born April 23, 1915 in Shenandoah, VA, he was the son of the late Robert Hume Moore and Charlotte Roudebush Moore.
He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945 during WWII. While in Virginia he owned a coal delivery business and a restaurant/bar. He moved to Pennsylvania where he married Frances Morris on April 24, 1953. In 1954 they moved to Lafayette where he worked for New Century Homes until his retirement in 1977. He then became a car pool dad for his two youngest daughters. He was an avid fan of his beloved Cubbies.
Surviving with his wife of 56 years are a son, Robert Jr. (wife, Bonnie) of Shenandoah, VA; four daughters, Sandra Miller (husband, Bob) of Baker, WV, Susan Hadley (husband, Jerry) of Lafayette, Janet Moore (significant other, Dana Woods) of Lafayette, and Anna Shaffer (husband, Kevin) of Valley View, TX; grandchildren, Robert Moore, II (wife, Danette) of Swoope, VA, Dax Moore (wife, Gabriella) of Virginia Beach, VA, Chris Craun of Weyers Cave, VA, Greg Newgent (partner, Katie Stout), Daniel Newgent (wife, Julia), Logan and Layne Moore all of Lafayette, Mason and Ethan Shaffer of Valley View, TX, and seven great grandchildren and another one on the way at the end of January.
