LEADER, Ruth M. - 84

Ruth M. Finch Leader, 84, of Romney, died on Saturday March 19, 2011 at Creasy Springs in Lafayette. Born April 7 , 1926 in Francesville, IN to the late Rosco and Elizabeth Schilling Finch. She was a 1944 graduate of Montmorenci High School. Ruth married Harold Leader on January 1, 1947 in Brookston, IN. and he preceded her in death on June 25, 1999. Mrs. Leader farmed with her husband in Romney. In the 1940's she worked in the Mechanical Engineering Building at Purdue University . She was a school bus driver for Tippecanoe School Corporation for 20 years. Ruth belonged to Jackson Height United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing, reading, cooking and traveling.

Surviving are one son: Charles Leader of New Richmond, three daughters: Janet Freels of West Lafayette, Teresa Hull of Lafayette and Diane Leader of Lafayette. Two sisters: Bess Myers and Shirley (Herb) Stitz, two brothers George (Laverne) Finch, and James (Betty) Finch all of Lafayette.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a brother Raymond Finch and two sisters Doris Finch and Mary Jane Preston.

Visitation 5-8 p.m. Wednesday with service at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hippensteel Funeral Home, Reverend Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating. Interment to follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Alzheimer's Association. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
