Tony Kendall, 47, of Indianapolis, formerly of Lafayette, died at his residence on Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Born in Lafayette on May 1, 1962, he was the son of Reba (Austin) Kendall of Lafayette and the late Charles Kendall. He was a 1980 graduate of Central Catholic High School and attended Purdue University for two years. He was a lab technician for Eli Lilly, first at Tippecanoe Labs in Shadeland and then transferring to Indianapolis.
He married Debbie Gilpin and they divorced. He married Marie Gale Neeley on May 23, 2006 in Lafayette and she survives. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. Mr. Kendall was a very talented song writer and his passion was music and corvettes. He played in several bands and played bass guitar.
Surviving with his wife and mother are three children, Mariah Christian Kendall and Cameron Charles Kendall both of Glasgow, Ky and Natasha Riley of Shadeland; four step-children, Marlena Moffitt of Lafayette, Bianca Neeley of Indianapolis, Ralph and Caleb Neeley both of Medaryville; three sisters, Debra Kellar-Crawford (husband, Kendall Crawford) of Fishers, Judy Kendall of Indianapolis, and Penny Kendall-Stokes (husband, Benny Stokes) of Lafayette; a brother, James Patrick Kendall (wife, Janelle) of Lafayette; a grandson, JaCovin Andrew Kendall; four step-grandchildren, Brianna, Neveah, Michal, and Jazzy; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Minnie Austin-Davis; a brother, Willie T. Keller, Jr.; and an infant sister, Gloria Austin.
Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Service Saturday 11a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 2925 S. 18th St., Pastor Paul William Barrett, Sr. and Pastor James O'Neal officiating.
